Located in Istanbul, the Turkish-German University is a state university founded on the basis of the agreement between the Federal Republic of Germany and the Republic of Turkey and is subject to the legislation of Turkish higher education.
Purpose of the establishment is to combine Turkish and German higher education traditions and achievements in the fields of research and teaching and to contribute to the scientific, economic and cultural cooperation between two countries.
Turkish-German University academically categorizes itself as a research university.
Turkish-German University is a multilingual university. Education language is mainly German in undergraduate programs and in German or English in graduate programs. In the future, under the collaboration that will be made with German partner universities, German university diploma will also be provided as well as Turkish university diploma (or as 'double degree' or 'joint degree').
Located in Istanbul Beykoz, Turkish-German University admitted its first students in 2013/2014 academic year to several undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
Speaking German is not required to be accepted to Turkish-German University. Our language preparatory class teaches 1 year German language class for students who do not speak German. High-level German speaking students (will be determined by language exam) can directly begin their education.
