Overview

Roger Williams University located in Bristol, R.I., is a leading independent, coeducational university with programs in the liberal arts and the professions, where students become community- and globally-minded citizens through project-based, experiential learning. Offering more than 40 majors and a plethora of co-curricular activities as well as study abroad options, RWU is dedicated to the success of students, commitment to a set of core values, the pursuit of affordable excellence and to providing a relevant, world-class education above all else.

In the last decade, the University has achieved unprecedented successes including recognition as one of the best colleges in the nation by Forbes, a College of Distinction by Student Horizons, Inc. and as both a best college in the Northeast and one of the nation’s greenest universities by The Princeton Review.

Roger Williams University was originally founded in Providence in 1956. With a growing student population, the hunt was on for a new, larger location, and in 1967, groundbreaking began at the University's current location. Formerly Ferrycliffe Farm, a dairy farm owned at the time by Mary Howe DeWolf and Marshall Fulton, the location was -- and remains -- convenient to Boston, Providence and Newport.

, a quaint, historic New England town known for its annual Fourth of July celebration, RWU's campus sits on a sprawling 143 acres overlooking Mount Hope Bay. RWU is just minutes to downtown Bristol -- home to restaurants, ice cream shops, boutiques and antique shops, the East Bay Bike Path and Colt State Park. RWU is also just a 30-minute drive to both Newport (R.I.'s beach haven) and Providence (R.I.'s capital city), just 60 minutes to Boston, Mass., and about three hours to New York City.

Our campus is home to the Feinstein College of Arts and Sciences as well as five professional schools. Students live in a variety of housing options from singles and doubles to suites and apartments in six on-campus residence halls and two off-campus halls. From our state-of-the-art classrooms and computer labs to our newest classroom building, Global Heritage Hall at the heart of RWU's academic quad, RWU's campus is the epitome of what a college campus should be.
