İstanbul Kültür University started education in the academic year of 1997-1998 with 3 faculties and 2 colleges. Students are still being accepted to 32 higher education programs in 5 faculties and 2 vocational schools. Additionally, PhD and master degree programs are carried on in 14 departments at the Institute of Social Sciences and the Institute of Applied Sciences.
IKU gives undergraduate education mainly in foreign langue; English. Acquiring a second language has also been aimed at Kültür University. Concordantly, it pays attention to teach IKU students dialogues among different cultures and accordingly, rules of international collaboration. Considering information, production and communication speed, prevalence and intensity in today’s world, the students are provided with computer techniques of informatics exchangeIt makes essential to raise persons ready for production techniques of contemporary professional life to be continually developed and globalized. Therefore, it pays attention to obtain identification data of assessment of scientific and technological transfer principals, traditional and new communication techniques, technical and human and ecological response.
Istanbul Kültür University aims at an education-training standard which is in the contemporary western standard. In this regard, continuous renewal and development of education and training has been the main principle. University’s instructors are the leading persons to carry out this main principle. Instructors are required to have significant qualifications such as well linguistic performance, convey his/her knowledge to students and community by technical methods in addition to being a person who proved him/herself in their own disciplines.
On the purpose of providing IKU students to be righteous, intellectual, in the habit of multiple thinking, positive, creative and contemporary graduates, and scientific association has been performed by domestic and foreign distinguished universities.
It pays attention not only to develop the theoretical aspects but also the practice-oriented aspects of IKU students.
Taking the responsibility that its name has given, IKU has been one of the significant points in Istanbul for cultural activities. By using significant physical facilities of Sirinevler and Atakoy Campus and Atakoy Central Complex, national and international meetings, colloquiums, seminars, concerts, theatres and movie displays have been presented for the benefit of the community.
In the 2 Institutes, 7 Faculties and 3 Vocational Schools of Istanbul Kültür University, students from more than 50 different countries are studying. IKU is one of the private universities most active in promoting scholarships. Within this framework, international students who are enrolled with Istanbul Kültür University can receive scholarships at the ratios of 25%, 50%, and 100%.
