Overview

UH-Clear Lake emphasizes high academic standards through teaching, research and community service and delivers outstanding educational opportunities in a traditional classroom setting using the latest instructional technologies, as well as cutting-edge distance learning.

Schools of Business, Human Sciences and Humanities, and In its short history, UHCL has earned a distinctive reputation as a community-minded, partnership-oriented university. UHCL has developed partnerships with area businesses, organizations, schools and individuals that enhance the region's educational, economic, cultural, scientific and professional environment.

UHCL Pearland Campus. The new campus was developed as a partnership between UHCL and City of Pearland to provide further access to higher education for the Pearland area. Classes began at the satellite campus in fall 2010.

As an upper-level (junior and senior) undergraduate and graduate university, UHCL has an adult student population with an average age of 31. More than 80 percent of its undergraduate student population transfers from local community colleges to attain bachelor's degrees at UHCL. In fall 2014, UHCL will welcome its first freshmen and sophomores to campus.

More than 2,000 students graduate each academic year from UHCL.

New Student Scholarships

  • MIS Graduate Merit Scholarship – Awarding $1,000 scholarships for Fall 2013
  • Satish & Kamlesh Agarwal MIS Scholarship – Awarding $1,000 scholarships for Fall 2013
  • Automatic Transfer – A scholarship for new first-time, degree seeking undergraduate students. The student must be a Texas resident or a non-resident transferring from a Texas college or university.
  • Dollars For Scholars – Available for new students who are undergraduate paying non-resident tuition or a graduate student who is paying resident or non-resident tuition. Deadline is by May 15, 2014.
  • SCE Dean’s Scholarship – Available for new students enrolling in select majors who have already applied to UHCL, you must be planning to take 6 hours or more.
  • New Hawk Scholarship - UHCL's first scholarship that is available for freshmen students only. The scholarship ranges from a full ride type scholarship to $1000. Deadline is by January 15, 2014.
  • National Science Foundation - Available to incoming or current UHCL students majoring in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Mathematics Science, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Physics.
  • External Scholarships - A list of scholarships and information that UHCL receives directly from donors and organizations sponsoring scholarships. Updated frequently.

Current/Continuing Student Scholarships

  • Chevron Scholarship - A scholarship for environmental students in the school of sciences and computer engineering. Deadline is by October 18, 2013.
  • Amy Linn O’Sullivan Memorial Student Experience - A scholarship for completion of a one-hour presentation after participating in an approved education abroad program. The presentation should be completed within 90 days after returning from the study abroad trip.
  • Current/Continuing Students Scholarships - Applicants will be notified of award or denial in mid -July, 2014. Scholarships will be awarded for fall 2014/spring 2015. Deadline is February 28, 2014.
  • International Education Fee Award - Available to current UHCL students planning participation in a faculty led study abroad or a student direct enrollment study abroad program.
