Minimum Requirements To Be Considered

Presidential Scholarship

The most prestigious scholarship award Rutgers offers to undergraduates. Students who receive this award are guaranteed on-campus housing for all fours years and admission to the Honors Program. Only the top 1-2% of admitted students will be awarded this scholarship.

$25,000 per year, including a $11,700 credit for on-campus housing and dining. For those who choose not to live on campus, the award will be $13,300 per year.

Competitive academic credentials, minimum 2250 combined SAT or an ACT score of 35 and an A grade-point average to compete. Renewable with a minimum 3.25 grade-point average and offered for a total of four years.

James Dickson Carr Scholarship

Honors the first African-American Rutgers graduate. This scholarship reflects our commitment to enrolling a student body that is broadly diverse in terms of experience, socioeconomic background, geography, special skills, and talents.

$10,000 per year

Competitive academic credentials, award based also on specialized talents, extracurricular activities, leadership, community service, work experience, awards, honors, and achievement.Renewable with a minimum 3.0 grade-point average and offered for a total of four years.

Scarlet Scholarship

Offered based on a combination of academic achievement and financial need as indicated by the FAFSA.

$3,500 (additional Dean’s scholarship from $1,500 - $4,000 may be added as determined by the Estimated Family Contribution (EFC).

Competitive academic credentials, minimum combined SAT score of 1950 or 30 ACT score. Please file the FAFSA by February 15 to be considered for additional Dean's scholarships to enhance the award amount.Renewable with a minimum 3.0 grade-point average and offered for a total of four years.

Rutgers International Award

Offered to students who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the United States.

$2,000-8,000 per year

Competitive awards based on academic credentials and test scores. Renewable with a minimum 3.0 grade-point average and offered for a total of four years.

National Merit Scholarships/College-Sponsored Merit Awards

Rutgers University is a sponsoring institution for students selected by the National Merit Scholarship Committee to receive the College-Sponsored Merit Scholarship award.

$1,000 per year

Eligible are National Merit finalists who designate Rutgers as their first choice on the National Merit Scholarship application. Renewable with a minimum 3.0 grade-point average and offered for a total of four years.  In addition to other Rutgers scholarships offers.

September 11 Memorial Scholarship

For the dependent children of New Jersey residents who lost their lives as a direct result of the terrorist acts at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, or the airplane crash in Pennsylvania.

This scholarship is adjusted annually as necessary to equal the cost of in-state tuition.

Self-identify as eligible subsequent to admission.  Send a letter with documentation to the Director of Funds Management, Rutgers Office of Financial Aid, 620 George Street, New Brunswick, NJ 08901.Renewable with satisfactory academic progress consistent with university standards and offered for a total of four years.

Rutgers Alumni Association Vincent R. Kramer Merit Endowed Scholarship

Awarded to entering first-year students at Rutgers-New Brunswick who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement as well as leadership qualities in the community. Preference given to descendants of present or past members of the Rutgers Alumni Association (RAA).

 $1,766 per year

Self-identify as eligible subsequent to admission. Send a letter with the name of the RAA member, that person’s school and year of graduation, and your relationship to that person to: Director of Funds Management, Rutgers Office of Financial Aid, 620 George Street, New Brunswick, NJ 08901

Rutgers Class Endowed Scholarships

Offered to descendants of the following class years: 1940, 1941, 1949, 1970 and 1982, as well as the Rutgers College Class of 1980, based on available funds. These awards are possible because of the generosity of alumni donors.

$500 to $5,000 per year

Self-identify as eligible. Send a letter with the name of the Rutgers graduate, that person’s school and year of graduation, and your relationship to that person to: Office of Undergraduate Admissions, Scholarship Committee, 65 Davidson Road, Piscataway, NJ 08854 by May 1. Not all renewable. Recipients are notified in July.

Theodore J. and F. Elizabeth Kirsch Southern California Scholarship

Offered to first year students who reside and attend public high school in the California communities of San Jose, San Mateo and Palm Dessert.

 

Award is based on academic merit and financial need. Eligible students must self-identify by submitting a letter of interest to: Office of Undergraduate Admissions, Scholarship Committee; 65 Davidson Road (Room 202); Piscataway, NJ 08854 by January 1 and file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by February 15. Recipients are notified in June
