Overview

At High Point University, every student receives an extraordinary education in an inspiring environment with caring people. HPU is a private liberal arts institution with 4,200 undergraduate and graduate students from 46 states and 27 countries. With small class sizes, the student-to-faculty ratio is 15:1. High Point University currently offers 44 undergraduate majors, 43 undergraduate minors and 11 graduate degree programs, including a doctoral program in educational leadership and two more doctoral programs proposed for 2017.

High Point University is committed to academic excellence. Students are mentored by caring faculty who are actively involved in teaching and scholarly research. HPU’s signature experiential learning program differentiates this collegiate experience from others, and reinforces what is taught in the classroom while providing students with resources for professional networking and deep, practical knowledge of their fields.

The High Point University Panthers compete in 16 NCAA Div. I sports and are members of the Big South Conference. HPU also provides 26 club sports and more than 100 student clubs and organizations.

Founded in 1924, High Point University has a strong academic history and is committed to building character, modeling values, and ensuring that students graduate with not only hands-on experience in their discipline, but also with the life skills necessary to be successful.

English Requirements

Taken an official TOEFL (iBT) and received a score of 79 or higher. The school code for TOEFL is 5293.

Taken an official IELTS and received a score of 6.0 or higher. There is no school code for IELTS.

Successfully completed the American Language Academy Intensive English Program.

Successfully completed ELS Level 112 at an ELS Language Center.

Attended for 3 consecutive years, and graduated from, an accredited U.S. high school.

Obtained an official score of 4 or higher on either the IB Higher Level Language examination in English, or the AP Program examination in English Language.


Scholarships

High Point University awards financial assistance from many different sources. We participate in all available Federal Programs (Pell Grants, Perkins Loan, Work-Study, etc) as well as numerous programs within the State of North Carolina.

However, a significant amount of scholarship is awarded through merit-based programs internal to High Point University; 

Presidential Scholarship Program;

Athletic Scholarships. Scholarships for male athletes are awarded on a competitive basis in baseball, basketball, track, cross country and soccer;

Scholarships for female athletes are awarded on a competitive basis in basketball, cross country, soccer, track and volleyball.

ROTC Scholarships. Scholarships are available for students who wish to pursue Army ROTC or Airforce ROTC through a cooperative agreement with North Carolina A&T State University. For more information, please contact NC A&T State University.

United Methodist Scholarships

High Point University is affiliated with the United Methodist Church.  Current members of a United Methodist Church may wish to pursue scholarship opportunities, such as Dollars for Scholars as well as others.  Most UM scholarship deadlines are May 1st each year, so you should apply early since funds are limited.
