Overview

<span style="\\&quot;line-height:" 1.6em;\\"="">The University of Hradec Králové is a vibrant institution, and its constant development is reflected both in academic and construction activities: new faculties and institutes are being established, new study programmes are being accredited, and, last but not least, the construction of the University campus is in unremitting progress. The University campus “Na Soutoku”, “At the Confluence”, is situated conveniently in the town centre within walking distance of the other university buildings, the Educational and Scientific Library, and the old town with many cosy restaurants and bars. In addition to classrooms and lecture halls equipped with latest technology, the campus includes the University Library and Gaudeamus Publishing House, a textbook shop, and an art gallery. The campus visitors will meet enthusiastic young people, Czech and international students as well as members of the academic staff.

The University of Hradec Králové comprises the following parts: Faculty of Education, Faculty of Informatics and Management, Philosophical Faculty, Faculty of Science, Institute of Social Work.


Faculties

PHILOSOPHICAL FACULTY

The Philosophical Faculty offers BA, MA and PhD study programmes in Czech language in full-time and, in several study disciplines, part-time form of study. It provides education in the fields of history, archaeology, archival science, political science (with specialization in the regions of Africa and Latin America in MA and PhD study programmes), sociology, philosophy and several interdisciplinary study fields (focused on informatics and multimedia in archival science and archaeology).

Students of the faculty can yield from the contacts with foreign universities and spend a segment of their studies abroad at one of the partner institutions all over the world. The Philosophical Faculty provides instruction in history and social sciences for the students of teaching study programmes at the Faculty of Education. Graduates of the faculty acquire first-rate knowledge in humanities and social sciences, and find a broad range of job opportunities in public institutions, non-governmental organizations, commercial agencies, media, or in research and development.

Study programmes for international students at the Philosophical Faculty

The Philosophical Faculty offers also full-time MA and PhD study programmes in English, i.e. MA study programme Central European Studies and two PhD study programmes Latin American Studies and African Studies.
